Fortnite voice chat not working: channels, privacy and devices
Check Epic status, Party or Game Channel, parental controls and platform microphone permissions.

- Check service status and the active chat channel.
- Check parental, platform and microphone permissions.
- Record platform and exact symptom for Epic Support.
Check the channel and service
Fortnite has Party Channel and Game Channel, and being in the wrong one can make it seem as if voice chat is broken. Check Epic’s public service status and current known issues first. If you are in an Xbox or PlayStation party chat, leave that party chat before testing Fortnite voice chat; the console party can take control of the audio path.
Check privacy, devices and permissions
In Fortnite, confirm voice chat is allowed by the parental-control setting and select the intended input and output devices. On PC, check the operating system microphone permission and push-to-talk key. On console, check the platform privacy and cross-network communication settings. Test with one channel and one device at a time so a second phone, headset or party does not silently take the session.
Escalate without changing everything
If status is operational and the channel, account settings and microphone permission are correct, record platform, channel, device, region and exact symptom before contacting Epic. Do not open random ports, install audio “fixes” or disable security software as a first step.
