Pokémon GO evolution requirements: candy, items and special methods

- Check the evolution button before spending items.

- Keep event-only requirements separate from evergreen advice.
Read the evolution screen
Pokémon GO may show candy, an evolution item, a trade condition, a Buddy task, a walking distance or an event requirement. Open the individual Pokémon’s evolution screen before spending resources; the requirement shown there is more reliable than a generic list, especially after a feature or event update.
Separate permanent and event conditions
Some methods are tied to the specific species, while others are temporarily boosted by an event. Keep the species requirement, candy cost and item requirement separate from event bonuses. For trade evolutions, confirm the trade account and the game’s current rule before transferring a valuable Pokémon; the trade itself cannot simply be undone.
Verify before powering up
Check the evolution preview, appraisal and event context before using rare candy, items or XL resources. If an evolution move or method is time-limited, date it and link the official event page. When the button remains unavailable, capture the species, task text and account state for Niantic support rather than using a third-party generator.
